New Weekly Country Dance Venue Opens in Boston February 24th !!!


Yes, Virginia, there is a place where you can dance every week.
- Clear your Wednesday evenings, cowboys and cowgirls, because a weekly night of country western dancing is coming to Verve Lounge in Boston.
- Come to the preview on Feb 24th from 7:00 to 10:00. You can learn new line dances from 7 – 8:15, and then the floor will be open for the rest of the evening for line dancing, two-stepping, waltzing, swinging, and shadow dancing.
-Verve Lounge 811 Massachusetts Avenue – Corner of Mass Ave and Melnea Cass Blvd - Easy access to I-93 (Mass Ave exit) or via #1 bus -Two hours free parking in on-site garage – entrance on Melnea Cass

Line Dance Junkies Wanted

Michael Metzger is looking for a crew of line dancers to beef up the repertoire at the upcoming weekly Wednesday night dances. He has selected some fun dances, and he'd like to teach them to you. Piazza Dance Workshop: Technique Workshop

Instructor - Patrick Piazza
Sunday - February 28th 3:00 - 4:30 PM
$20 per person; $15 per person, in conjunction with private lessons
Technique Workshop This is workshop is designed to touch base on the most common challenges that students face when dancing (skills that are usually developed during private lessons). It will cover the proper technique in the following areas for social dancing:

1. Dance Position (proper hold, tone, etc.)
2. Sustaining Footwork (smooth vs. rhythm)
3. Utilizing Supporting Leg
4. Spotting

This is great for all your social dances at any level!

- Registration is now open for the Austin Hoedown!
- This is a fantastic weekend full of dancing, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, and socializing. Check out the website for more information. Many of us have gone to several Hoedowns and always have a great time.
- The Tyler Goolsby Scholarhip Fund is available for anyone that is interested in applying. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage young people and newcomers to take part in the conventions and competitions, but anyone with a need for it is welcome to apply. The deadline for the scholarship application is February 26th. Follow the scholarship link for more information

Saturday, April 10th Swing Beyond the Basics Taught by: Liz Nania
Join us for some adventures in swing dancing! If you know the basic footwork for East Coast Swing (lindy, jitterbug, etc..) plus a couple of very simple spins, then you're ready to take your swing beyond the basics! Some of the possible steps we may learn are the Bridge Pass, the Sweetheart Wrap with various exits, the Slide, and more.

Saturday, April 24th Lesson 7-8; Dancing 8-11

Workshops will run from 4 – 6 prior to most Saturday dances. Pre-registration cost is $20, day-of registration cost is $25. Get your registration form at the next dance! Dance entrance is only $5 for all workshop participants. Swingtime's March dance at the Brookline Academy of Dance, 136 Westbourne Terrace, Brookline, 02446. Swing, salsa, ballroom, two-step, and Latin dancing for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and friends in an alcohol- and smoke-free environment. This month’s theme: You Can Leave Your Hat On! Beginner’s dance lesson from 8 to 9 p.m.; dancing to live music by The Mood Swings from 9 to 11 p.m. Admission $12, free parking and free refreshments; easily accessible on the B and C green lines on the T. Randolph Country Club – Every Thursday
Dancing in the Poolside Lounge from 7:30 until 10:00 PM, offering a variety of dances, including partner dances such as two-step, swing, rumba, foxtrot, and cha-cha, as well as line dancing. The music is supplied by the dancers themselves, so fell free to bring your own music (I-Pod, CD). The Randolph Country Club is located at 44 Mazzeo Drive (Route 139 East, Exit 20A off Route 24, across from Bertucci's) in Randolph, about 20-30 minutes south from Boston.
